Knowledge Sharing - HOW TO RELAX

Learning how to relax is a key to good life balance and self respect. In this post, we'll share some essential techniques to relax, and hopefully to restore our faith in the worth of including relaxing as a permanent part of our lifestyle.

Choose a time in your day when you can truly relax and unhibited - e.g. like from work, where stressful events took their toll on you.

It is most helpful to try and unwind at the point when you are coming down from the highest stress, as this usually occurs when you are overwhelmed and there is little you can do about it.


Run yourself a hot bath with lots of scented oils and bubble bath but avoid being in it for too long; just long enough to refresh and restore your energy back to your own head space.


Give yourself a massage. It is effective in reducing muscle pain and tightens when stressed.


Clear your mind. If there are stressing thoughts pestering you during your quiet moments, give yourself a break, even for a minute or two.

Do this by narrowly focusing on a picture, sound, or smell in your mind.


Do something proactive. If the situation persists, take a pen and paper and start writing down your feelings. Identify what is triggering the feelings.


Find an outlet - do active sports e.g. cycling, futsal, tennis, badminton, ping pong, etc.
Pray, meditate, yoga, etc.
Karaoke.


Seek help. Do not let things get to such a bad state that you find yourself stressing deeply and regularly. Go and seek for professional help.
